EASTCONN, through funding provided by and in partnership with the Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board, plans to provide a Summer Youth Employment and Training Program for over 125 14-21 year old youth in Eastern Connecticut. The youth will be learning meaningful work readiness skills while helping out their community, and we need help from you to provide these opportunities.
If you are interested in providing a work experience, please contact Cyndi Wells so I may answer your questions. Each work site experience is free to you and lasts for 15-25 hours per week for 5-6 weeks during July and August. Work sites meet the youth to make sure it is a good fit for their company, and experiences may lead to permanent positions. EASTCONN staff provide training and ongoing communication between youth and the work sites. EASTCONN, through the funding provided by EWIB, pays the youth’s wages. Past experiences include medical records, recreational aides, human service assistants, clerical aides, maintenance and landscaping assistants and retail associates. Currently our funding for this program is pending, but we have successfully operated it for over 15 years.
