Congratulations to Evan Reynolds of Lewis S. Mills High School on winning Connecticut’s Poetry Out Loud State Finals! Evan will represent Connecticut at the 2019 National Poetry Out Loud Finals to be held April 30 – May 1, 2019 at The George Washington University in Washington D.C.
Poetry Out Loud (POL) is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with The Poetry Foundation. The program encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. It helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
Twenty-nine (29) students participated in the Poetry Out Loud State Finals held on March 9 at Middlesex Community College. Madelon Morin-Viall of Windsor High School was named runner-up in the State finals.
Schools interested in participating in Poetry Out Loud in 2020 should contact Adriane Jefferson.
