One of our members, Deb Comeau, is planning a wonderful event to take place in October. A Halloween Tea Party and Fashion Show. These events, as presented by other organizations, have proven to be a great deal of fun and successful fundraisers as well.
The concept is this: Volunteers accept the responsibility of “adopting” one table at the tea party. You pick your own theme and decorate the table to follow that theme. Your table could be a Victorian table with antique tea cups, Hydrangea blossoms and lace napkins, or perhaps a Steampunk tea table with memorabilia from that genre. Maybe an Alice in Wonderland table or a Peter Rabbit table, a Van Gogh Table. The possibilities are endless and the resulting creative tables quite exciting. Tickets to the event are sold at $25.00 per person to benefit the Guild.
While the Tea Party is going on, members of the community, high school students, future costume designers perhaps, or younger students – will present a Halloween themed fashion show. This event can bring out the creativity in all of us with so many areas to choose from. Use your imagination and develop an exciting theme, be it table decoration or costumes. All ages can enjoy an event such as this.
There will also be a raffle table and we would require people to donate goods or services for those raffle baskets.
In order to achieve the fantastic results that Deb foresees, she needs a strong group of committed volunteers to be a part of this event. Something of this nature takes many people and time to plan. Deb would need to hear from you by the end of March to be certain that she has adequate staff. Imagine a glorious Tea Party at Mill Brook Place with a parade of creative Halloween costumed people wandering about….sounds like fun!
