EMERGENCY FOOD BANK BENEFIT

Saturday, Jan. 19, 7:30PM
The Vanilla Bean Café, Pomfret, CT

Dear Friends and Neighbors in Northeastern Connecticut,

Come join us for a concert. On Saturday, JANUARY 19th, the Vanilla Bean Cafe will be hosting the 27th Annual Emergency Food Bank Benefit. This local tradition is an evening of singing, laughter, hot licks on guitar, fiddle and banjo, wonderful desserts, and beverages ranging from fresh squeezed cappuccino to fine wines. The Vanilla Bean is a great place to shake off the winter blahs, and we have music that will lift your spirits.

Joining me onstage this year will be Sally Rogers, John Bailey, Martin Grosswendt and Susanne Salem-Schatz, Bennett and Lorraine Hammond. This Mighty Musical Melange will light up the room and set your ears abuzz. We Pomfretutians are mighty lucky to have such talented folks making music in our midst.

Why do we hold this event? It’s to raise money for our Northeast Connecticut Emergency Food Bank. This very fine organization helps to feed our neighbors who don’t have enough money to buy food for themselves – or for their children. For example, some working people in our region make just enough money to prevent them from getting food assistance. They can barely pay rent and buy clothing for their kids. A doctor bill can be a financial disaster. For these people, and for many others, the Food Bank can make the difference between hunger and health. All proceeds from this concert will be used to buy food from the state’s central food bank. Every dollar is redeemed for $8 worth of food. Last year we raised over $1,200 -which translates into a trailer load of nutrition.

I hope we will see you in greater metropolitan downtown Pomfret, at the Vanilla Bean, on Saturday, January 19th, at 7:30 P.M. If you can’t make it that evening, buy a ticket for a friend who can. Here’s wishing you a warm and toasty winter.
