The Charm of New England
Watercolors by Art Scholz

scholz-wet_nwaiting_webAmong the lustrous foliage of our New England autumn is a new show of paintings by leading Connecticut watercolorist Art Scholz.  As a painter, Mr. Scholz embraces the sensitivity and spontaneity required to work with watercolor paints.  He can quickly express the many colors and elements he sees by capturing the varying hues of each changing season.  Drawing from the simple beauty of landscape and nature for his subject matter, “The Charm of New England” exhibits skillful portrayals of bucolic farms and woodlands, and tranquil coastal vistas, all of which capture the quiet splendor of nature in harmony in this region of the country. From rugged barns and cluttered antique shops to the serenity of newly fallen snow in brilliant light, this painter finds inspiration in village and countryside alike.

Art Scholz began his professional career as an illustrator and designer in New York City and graduated from the School of Industrial Art.  He became the base artist after enlisting in the Air Force and pursued his career afterward his service by associating with established art studios and studying under many nationally known illustrators.  Mr. Scholz is now semi-retired, which allows him to concentrate more fully on developing his painting talent. As a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, and the Tolland, Windham, and New Canaan Art Societies, Art exhibits extensively and has received numerous awards. His work hangs in many private and corporate collections.
