Chocolate Cake Baking Contest
Romantic Willimantic Chocolate Cake Contest Rules and Guidelines
Contest Rules:
Cakes must be chocolate! Chocolate of any kind is acceptable (i.e. milk, white, dark, etc.).
One entry per person.
Drop Off:
Cakes must be dropped off at WindhamARTS (866 Main St.) between 9 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 14th. All cakes must be delivered on a sturdy, disposable platter. We reserve the right to refuse entries.
Judging:
Age categories are as follows:
Child (6-10 Years),
Youth (11-13 Years),
Young Adult (14-18 Years),
Adult (19 and Up). Entries will be judged on taste (50%), Texture (25%), Appearance (10%), and Creativity/Presentation (15%).
Prizes:
Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, place will be awarded in each age category. One award each will be given for best Valentine and best Willimantic themed cakes. Theme cakes are to be entered for decoration only. They will not be tasted.
Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at 1 PM at WindhamARTS on the day of the event. We ask that entrants be present for the awards ceremony.
Cakes may be offered for our Silent Auction (to take place at 3 p.m.). Proceeds will go to the 2010 Chocolate Festival.
All cakes that are not part of the auction must be removed after the awards ceremony. Any cakes not claimed will be discarded.
Registration:
Pre-registration fee $5. (Deadline February 6th postmark). Cakes will be accepted for competition on the day of the event for a registration fee of $10. Cakes must come with a list of ingredients/recipe provided the day of the competition. This will ensure prospective cake bidders/judges allergy information, if needed.

Food service professionals/cake/culinary members are not eligible for competition. Persons who are related to judges, festival organizers, or personnel involved in the competition may not enter into the contest.
