 Nick Shifrin

Artist Statement:
    My work serves to provide an alternate reality and to remove the
subject from all of the objects and objectives of our everyday lives.
I do not believe in escapism but I do believe in taking full advantage
of the imagination in its living creative process.  The power of the
subject of our animalistic instinct to evolve is the direct paradox,
while also the equivalent of the absent-minded but completely engaged
state of mind that allows one to achieve the highest intellectual
feats.  So while, keeping in mind the wondrous-beyond you may
encounter, each moment of the process remains an essential and
integral factor in the creation of the greater image.
    Some of the works are/were/were not used as promotional material by
non-profit organizations, bands and/or magazines.  The face of these
forcibly produced, yet flowing continuous ideas, against the barren
and rough land of handmade pieces that somehow live in the same way
allows me to delve into and further define the duality of our lives;
material, organized, clean and necessary versus elemental, human, of
the Earth and without ego or conscious awareness.

Accompanniament runs through June 14, 2007. The Annex and the Arts Center is open Tuesday-Friday 12 PM- 5PM and during events.
