ENCAUSTIC WORKSHOP

With Professor Imna Arroyo

Saturday, March 1, ~ 12-4 PM ****POSTPONED - watch for a new date...

*** Location: **Eastern Connecticut State University
Shafer Hall. Printmaking Studio, Room 207

Workshop is limited to 12 – Advance registration required.

What is Encaustic? Encaustic is a unique art form; it is a wax-based medium that uses heat to add a new dimension not found in other media. The pigment is mixed with wax creating beautiful bright colors. The images can be layered to explore the translucent or opaque nature of wax and its ability to show depth. The encaustic process allows for the building of surfaces in which their images can be transferred, glazed, scraped, and scrubbed or made into model or cast forms. Encaustic procedures can enrich printmaking, bookmaking, visual journals, altered books, papermaking and sculpture by combining color, texture and transfer techniques.

Members, Students with ID: $ 50

Not-yet-members: $70

Imna Arroyo is a painter, printmaker, sculptor and installation artist who has exhibited her work extensively in museums and galleries in the USA and abroad.
