Frogfest 2005 - From August through October 2005,WindhamARTS and the Windham Region United Way produced a public art installation in Willimantic. Fifteen, 6 foot high fiberglass frogs-on-spool sculptures were creatively painted by local artists and installed in the downtown Willimantic
area to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Willimantic Frog tale. The forms were exact replica's of sculptor Leo Jensen's frogs, which adorn Willimantic's now famous "Frog Bridge."
Some still remain on the streets of Willimantic, thanks to the generosity of area sponsors and the frog's new owners. Thanks to the Savings Institute who had the vision to support the project before it became real.
