BIOGRAPHICIAL SKETCH and ART HISTORY
of KAY P. HASKELL

A native of Greenville, South Carolina, I began painting at age 5.  My first Art Instructor was Alma Barkshadt, a local artist whose studio was located on the top floor of the old City Hall.  I studied Art in college and took lessons with artists, Bette Lee Coburn, Barney Slice and Helen Fuseler.

I worked at Greenville Museum of Art as Receptionist and tour guide.  I am a member of Willimantic Area Arts Collaborative and a past member of the Millwood Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild, National League of American Penwomen, Greenville Photography Club and Upstate Visual Arts.   I worked as a designer of needlework canvas for Brunswick Yarns Company which began in Moosup, CT.  I owned my own School of Needlearts in Lexington, SC.

Favorite Mediums – Acrylics and watercolor, mixed medium and working with fibers, material, natural elements and different papers.  I also enjoy nature photography and creating original needlework designs.  Most of my work expresses my love of nature, the ocean, lighthouses and Native American subjects.
