Peter
Polomski became interested in photography 50 years ago, when his father bought
one of the first Polaroid cameras. Most of his early photos were the
garden-variety - vacation and landscape photos. "I've taken thousands of photos
of beaches and palm trees in Mexico, the Caribbean, Venezuela and Hawaii. It
took me 15 years to realize that one stinkin' palm tree looks pretty much like
any other." The development of affordable digital photography, editing, and
printing has stimulated him to more creativity as well as more exotic locales,
such as Tibet and India.
Pete's education includes concentrations in mathematics,
psychology, business, & Buddhism. A graduate of ECSU, Pete dropped out of
the MBA Program at the University of Hartford to start a million dollar bakery
chain (he was in it for the dough). Career experience ranges from short order
cook to Comptroller of a construction company. In 2001, Pete bought The Lily
Pad, an Art Supply & custom picture-framing store in Willimantic, CT.
His work has appeared in several local shows and galleries.
His artistic focus has evolved from travel and architectural pictures to more
challenging work, primarily portraiture. "People are a lot more interesting
than palm trees". His most recent works are studies of ballet students with The
Northeast Academy of Dance. Pete & his wife Lynda reside in Chaplin, CT.
