Messecar, a 2007 graduate of the Art Institute of Boston began her work in art when she was very young. At the age of three she won her first art contest with a portrait of her father, which she states, “Was upside down and on a piece lined yellow paper”. Since then her work has been influenced by both fictional and non-fictional literature. Much of the subject matter in her highly detailed figural drawings and illustrations is derived from fantasy and science fiction. Messecar says, “My work comes together when the human form is combined with the inner working of imagination and reality…” Of her first solo show, Odyssey Messecar says, “I am excited to have this opportunity. For me, this show is the first step in pursuing my dream to become a freelance illustrator.”
