January 9 - 30, 2009
In the ANNEX Gallery
The show has been extended to February 15th!!
Nicholas Shifrin is a visual artist currently living, working and studying in New York City. He received his BA in New Media: Film from Fairfield University in 2008 and is now studying for his MFA at Parsons (The New School). His mixed media work centers on a conceptual process of demystifying, dismantling, and mapping text from The Bible. Shifrin’s works bring another level of reality (or unreality) to the subject matter with a conceptual basis that is grounded in objectivity, meditation, and a sense of spirituality that manifests as art.
Photographer Anna Ports, a life long inhabitant of Lebanon, CT, is a high school senior at Lyman Memorial. She has been accepted to the University of Oregon where she will major in photography. Ports’ black and white photography focuses mostly on nature and its intriguing and minute detail. Her, images strive to simplify the subject down to its rawest form and render palpable intimacy, by removing the detractors of color and thus emphasizing the object as it is.
