August 2006: A Gallery of Waiting Hearts |
|
|
|
To all those who need their hearts filled with hope, who need to once
again believe in the beauty of the human spirit, look no further than
the magic surrounding a Heart Gallery. Just as the evocative portraits
speak louder than words, so do the actions of everyone involved, whose
generosity, kindness, and concern are truly inspirational.
The first Heart Gallery was created in 2001 in New Mexico by the
Children, Youth and Families Department as a way to raise awareness
about children who are available for adoption. Like a lovingly nurtured
child, the Heart Gallery has grown since that very successful first
exhibit, and now takes place in over 45 states in the U.S.A. In April
of 2005, Peter Jennings of ABC News named Heart Gallery Photographers
as the "Person of the Week". On August 12, 2005, 20/20 featured the
Heart Gallery on its news program. This national coverage helps to
increase awareness of the desperate need for families in every state,
and in every community.
We hope that the portraits in this Heart Gallery inspire people to look
into the eyes of these lovable children - and then look into their
hearts to see if they can offer one or more a "forever family."
