The Art of Giving at Celebrations
February 24, 2014, Pomfret, CT Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes is proud to sponsor a number of local creative fundraising efforts throughout the year. Every year through donations of custom gift baskets, Celebrations generously supports numerous organizations. For 2014, Celebrations invites you to help support deserving area programs, including the Last Green Valley, Performing Arts of NECT, the new Regional Community YMCA, and the Access Agency.
On Thursday, March 13 & Saturday, March 15, Celebrations will host a Monthly Afternoon Tea during The Last Green Valley’s “Green Lights” month-long event. Ten percent of “Celebrating the Last Green Valley Tea” sales will be donated to support our local National Heritage Corridor, now in its 20th year. Afternoon Tea includes endless pots of two freshly brewed specialty teas, a soup course and three tiers of savories & tea sandwiches, scones, plus sweet treats. Everything is freshly prepared at Celebrations. Reservations required.
In keeping with a Madama Butterfly theme–the famous Puccini opera which will be sponsored by Performing Arts of NECT at the Hyde Cultural Center on Mother’s Day weekend–Celebrations invites you to “Butterflies and Blossoms” Afternoon Tea on Thursday, May 8 & Saturday, May 10. Celebrations will donate ten percent of tea event sales to Performing Arts of NECT, which has provided over 150,000 school children the opportunity to attend operatic and orchestral musical events in its 40 years of service to the public. Reservations required.
This autumn, Celebrations invites you to “It Takes a Village, People…To Build a YMCA,” September 13-October 25. This whimsical FUNdraiser art exhibition is free and open to the public. A Meet the Artists Reception will be held on Saturday, September 13 from 5 to 8 PM and includes complimentary refreshments and live entertainment. 20% of art sales from this event will benefit the new Regional Community YMCA coming to Putnam soon.
A particularly successful annual winter initiative at Celebrations has been “Keep the Home Fires Burning,” which raises money for the local Access Agency’s Home Heating Assistance Program. With the generous support of the community Celebrations has raised $7,500 in 3 years of hosting this special sale of gift-wrapped votive candles and decorative boxed wooden matches. 100% of the sales have been donated to the Access Agency in order to help keep our neighbors warm during our cold and snowy New England winters. In addition, Celebrations has been grateful for the help of students from Pomfret School and Woodstock Academy who volunteered their time to wrap candles and matches.
Save the dates for the following 2014 art exhibitions & events… The 2nd in our new Artist Talk & Tea Series, the Impact of Impressionism with Jackie Peterson will be held March 29 at 1 pm ($12.95, reservations required, includes tea & a light luncheon). “Big Works: Garden Treasures” Exhibition May 31-August 17 will feature a collection of large & colorful al fresco art. The annual CT Open House Day is June 14, with select Celebrations artists performing demonstrations outside. “Small Works: Artful Treasures” November 1-January 4, 2015 will be the Sixth Annual Holiday Exhibition and Sale.
