“Thieves” set to steal the stage! The Stafford Arts Commission will be hosting a fundraiser at The Stafford Palace Theater on Friday, May 9, 2014 beginning at 6:00PM.
The band Caravan of Thieves will be back at The Stafford Palace Theater to headline an evening of music, art and other festivities on Friday, May 9. The band returns to Stafford, CT after recording their video “Dead Wrong” there last fall. The band selected Stafford for the filming of the video because the band’s members found the picturesque beauty of the town to be an appealing backdrop for song. There will be a screening of the band’s video at the start of the concert.
Caravan of Thieves’ music features driving gypsy jazz rhythms, acoustic guitars, upright bass and violin lay the foundation for mesmerizing vocal harmonies andfantastic stories. The band’s website says it best, if Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp and the Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton’s house, Caravan of Thieves would be the band they hired.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help the Stafford Arts Commission continue to sponsor local programs and performances that encourage the participation of all ages in the arts.
The doors of The Stafford Palace Theater will be open early for an art show featuring local artists in the balcony hosted by the Stafford Arts Commission and everyone isencouraged to take part in a community Drum Circle in Haymarket Common – both events will begin at 6:00 PM. Admission to the art show and drum circle is free to all. Participants in the drum circle are encouraged to bring their own drums and percussion instruments to join in on the fun. This event will be taking place the same evening that all the Main Street businesses will be open and featuring various events as part of their monthly Arts on Main celebration.
Caravan of Thieves will take the stage at 8:00 PM – doors for the concert will open at 7:30 PM. Tickets for the concert are $15.00 and can be purchased at The Stafford Palace Theater’s website at http://www.thestaffordpalacetheater.com.
