August 20, 2014, Pomfret, CT . . . Yes! It does take a village, people, to create a shared dream. Join us for an art exhibition and FUNdraiser to support the building of the new Regional Community YMCA, scheduled to break ground this fall in Putnam. “It Takes a Village, People…To Build a YMCA” will run from September 13 – October 25 and will showcase an eclectic selection of original artwork by twenty-one different artists, including nationally known artists and many local favorites. An Opening Reception on Saturday, September 13 from 5-8PM will feature festive complimentary refreshments, an opportunity to meet the artists, and spontaneous entertainment. Twenty percent of art sales from this special exhibition will be donated to the new RYMCA.
Featured artwork includes a variety of media such as watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels, sculpture, fused glass, hand blown glass and jewelry. Participating artists are Chelsea Baum, Brenda Bergen, Janine Callahan, Lis-el Crowley, Judy Chace Doyle, David Gorski, Bernice Harmyk, Drew Hine, Paul Hitchen, Janice Hodge, Amy Jakowski, Susan Scott Kenney, Donna O’Scolaigh Lange, Susan Rosenstone Larrow, Anna Mancini, Jackie Peterson, Chris Plaisted, Ann Rosebrooks, Scott Taylor, Anthony Whelihan and Margaret Young.
