POMFRET, Conn., — Head over to Pomfret School and enjoy free afternoon
events including artist talks, student and faculty performances, premier
performances of new work, and other student showcases July 27 – August 1 at
the 2015 Summer Arts Academy (SAA), a premier one-week fine arts academy
for area students. Throughout the week, regionally acclaimed artists and
teachers provide inspiring lectures, demonstrations, and performances along
side three major student showcases.
Artist Talks are given by members of the award-winning artist faculty on topics in
the literary, visual, and performing arts every afternoon, Monday through Friday
at 4:30pm in the Hard Auditorium at Pomfret School. SAA will also host student
performances at a Variety Show on Wednesday, July 29 at 7pm and a Premier
Performance of a new work created by students during the week on Friday, July
31 at 4:30pm in the Hard Auditorium.
Other highlights include the culmination of student work in a unique showcase at
the Academy On Stage performance and gallery exhibition on Saturday, August
1 at 10:00am in the Hard Auditorium of Pomfret School.
SAA is a week long fine arts day camp that provides professional training to artistically
talented New England students in the visual, literary, and performing arts. The camp is open
to upper middle school students who will be enrolled in 8th grade this Fall and high school
students (including graduating seniors) who are artistically gifted. Students who are
accepted automatically receive a full scholarship to attend valued over $1,000.
