The UConn Health Disparities Institute (HDI), located in Hartford, CT, is excited to announce its second Annual Visualizing Health Equity Art Contest. This year’s theme is “Hope & Opportunities.” Artists can choose to focus on specific populations, such as boys and men of color, women and girls of color, immigrants, people with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, homeless population, LGBTQ+, and more.
HDI has created an art curriculum on health equity that can be used to teach students and adults on how the power of art can inspire greater health equity through creative expression. Please see attachment.
HDI builds on initiatives like the National Academy of Science and Medicine Visualizing Health Equity Project, which recognizes the power of art to amplify innovative strategies, change narratives, and provide solutions to advance health equity.
The entry deadline for the art contest is May 15, 2019, 11:59 PM and is open to Connecticut residents, age 10 and older.
