DUO MANTAR is comprised of the American classical guitarist Adam Levin (whom you will remember from his recent house concert with DUO SONIDOS) and the Israeli mandolinist Jacob Reuven. Their playing has been described as “viscerally and imaginative…transcendental and exuberant.”
Levin and Reuven share a passion for Israeli music, Hebrew and Jewish songs. Both of them are committed to expanding the repertoire available for mandolin and guitar. They have commissioned works from several renowned Israeli composers. Additionally, they are performing original works by Y. Braun and new arrangements of traditional Hebrew songs by Lavry and Ravel.
They gave their debut in April 2018 at the University of Rhode Island Guitar Festival, and this year are touring in the United States, Israel and Spain. They recorded their debut album on Naxos Records this summer and will be premiering a new double concerto in spring 2020.
They will be performing Friday, October 4, 2019 at the North Meadow House Concerts. Click here for details.
