All K-12 students are invited to enter the third annual Fighting Words Poetry Contest, an initiative of the Pulitzer Center. Students are asked to write a poem in response to current events that matter to them, including lines from a Pulitzer Center news story. Winners and finalists can receive cash prizes up to $100 and publication. Students are welcome to enter video or audio recordings as well as text files. The deadline is May 15, 2020. For complete contest guidelines and a downloadable/printable lesson that prepares students to craft successful entries, please visit here. If you have questions or would like Pulitzer Center educators to lead a free virtual workshop, email Hannah Berk at hberk@pulitzercenter.org.
