EASTCONN’s Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) performing arts magnet high school offers an arts-based education to academically motivated students in grades 9-12. At ACT, students select a major focus area from among five disciplines that include acting, dance, theater production (lighting/set design/set construction/costuming), audio/video and creative writing. Students have daily access to creative experiences through a rigorous curriculum that integrates the performing arts with more traditional academic high school subjects. Highly qualified ACT teaching artists and certified teachers work collaboratively to provide students with personalized educational experiences. Among the many other features that characterize ACT’s high school program are its student-centered learning model; its state-of-the-art facility with the latest technology to meet the demands of each performing arts focus-area; the opportunity to participate in numerous professional-quality performances throughout the year; and its positive school environment, based on the principles of “Respect Yourself, Respect the Work, Respect the Community.”

Pat Miller is drawn to color, form, and character in an effort to capture moments that possess a particular beauty or humor. She especially likes to photograph reflections, abstracts, landscapes, seascapes, and creatures (birds, mammals, insects). Her photos embrace both beauty and silliness, ranging from abstraction to hyper-realism. She works to balance complexity and simplicity. Originally an academic trained in literature, Pat Miller became an artist in her middle years.
