My paintings are based on my response to the landscape. The imagery has been about my surroundings in rural northeastern Connecticut. I am attracted to working farms. I feel a sort of kinship with the people who farm and their daily rituals. Also, I appreciate the architecture, equipment, fields, and animals. This narrative inclination goes back to my youth in North Carolina.
I create hand-painted fused glass earrings and pendants inspired by nature. I began fusing glass in 2007 and developed my own techniques of painting on glass.
I’m a retired freelance illustrator, graphic designer and cartoonist with over 60 years of national commercial experience. I teach watercolor workshops every Tuesday at 9:am and 12:pm in my home. Call for details. A member of numerous local art societies, my work has been exhibited extensively including many one man shows. I’ve been asked to judge juried art shows and invited to give art demos of my watercolor painting.
ARTIQUE where all ages can create art! We believe that everyone is an artist that anyone can paint, draw and create art. It is our mission to help you find that inner artist, the one that is buried by life and responsibilities. Try it, see how it feels and leave with a feeling of “what else can I do”?
ARTIQUE now offers studio art classes for all ages beginning at age 3 with our Mommy/Daddy & Me Creative Playtime workshops, to after school and summer arts enrichment classes and workshops for kids, teens and adults! We of course also offer painting for fun events with step by step instruction on Friday and Saturday Nights as a great night out with friends. ARTIQUE is also proud of the fact that we have given back to the community with our FUNdraising events and will continue with our “Paint for a Purpose” events for organizations all over NECT.

ARTIQUE studio began in 2012 as a “paint bar” style studio, and two moves later has grown into a full art studio with classes for all levels and abilities. We offer small class sizes in drawing, watercolor, sculpture, cartooning, mixed media art, and more. Artique is excited to continue to add classes in other mediums in the future!
Our classes are small, we offer individual attention where people can work at their own pace and comfort level. Creating Art is not just about the product, but it is the process of creating that reaches beyond the paper and canvas. When you are creative it reaches a part of you that go far beyond the moment. Creative thinking can have an impact on your life in so many ways!

Musical and theatrical performances delight audiences of all ages, and our classrooms are pulsing with the joy of artistic discovery. We are the heart of the arts east of the river.
Since its founding in 2015, the AAC has set its agenda on increasing support for local artists and promoting interest in and the availability of a variety of arts for both students and folks in our community. We are a group of citizens who love our community and strive to keep it vibrant and interesting. As a way of featuring local artists and craftspeople, we hold the Holiday Artists’ Market each fall, a fundraiser Dinner Dance in the spring, monthly workshops and this year we are adding in a juried show in the summer of 2020. We strive to bring the arts, the artists, and the community together.
“Patterns, colors, and emerging lines are the themes of my quilts. I call myself a “quilter” because the quilting is the ultimate goal in my work. I want to experience the tactile sensation of the hand stitching. My hands work to create the subtle landscape of shapes and shadows that will emerge across the quilt’s surface.”
Charles paints landscapes of wild places, still waters, and flowing rivers. From mountains to the sea nature motivates his work, as well as a love of small boats, old barns and fly fishing.
